About Trend
We built Trend because we kept asking the same question: never mind the commentary, what do the numbers actually say? Trend is our answer. UK public data, made legible: charts built straight from official sources, kept up to date automatically.
What we believe
Accountability through data
Numbers hold people to account better than opinions do. We put the official figures next to the governments and ministers responsible for them, and the media reporting on them, so you can judge the right people on what actually happened and on how it is being reported.
Education from the ground up
Public data should be understandable without a degree in economics. We keep every chart simple and digestible, and we explain what each number measures and why it matters to you.
Objective, always
We put the data first and we don't take sides. The same standard applies to every party and every government. Where a number needs interpreting, we do it carefully and we say so.
What we’re not
We should be honest about what we are not. We are not journalists. We are not political analysts. We are not experts pushing an agenda. We are just trying to build a platform that puts the data first and lets you make up your own mind.
How Trend works
Behind the scenes, Trend is a technology company. UK public data is fragmented: scattered across dozens of sources, not easy to access and harder still to understand. We are building a single, reliable layer of UK civic data: official figures from sources like the Office for National Statistics, collected in one place, refreshed automatically, and traceable back to where they came from.
Out front, Trend is what you’re reading now: a website, and soon a newsletter, that turns that data into something you can actually use and understand. We make the numbers easy to view and digest, then add an educational layer on top: what each number actually is, and what it means for you. Tech behind the scenes; media out front.
